The Accessible Design and Innovation Inclusion Project (ADII), Center for Continuing Education in Rehabilitation (CCER), Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, is recipient of a $25,000 grant from King County Office of Equity and Social Justice. The grant has been awarded to increase engagement and information sharing to communities affected by COVID-19 by providing service hours to support public agencies and community-based organizations.

Project goals are to increase information sharing on public health issues with limited-English speaking communities, including people who communicate by American Sign Language (ASL), to provide information and answer questions about the outbreak in communities of color, Native communities, limited English speaking communities, and communities located near isolation, quarantine and recovery sites, and keep individuals, community-based organizations, and faith-based organizations and business informed during this public health emergency.

The ADII team plans to accomplish the award aims by leveraging staff expertise in reviewing and assisting with making materials (brochures, pamphlets, websites, etc.) accessible to people with disabilities by partnering with community disability resources such as the NW ADA Center, as well as individuals with disabilities. The anticipated completion date for the funded project is December 30, 2020. Organizations that service residents of King County are invited to contact ADII at: InfoAdii@uw.edu or 425-771-7425 for more information.
